GIS Database & Data Analysis

Spatial data engineering that outlasts the app

Schemas, services and pipelines are where GIS projects succeed or quietly fail. We design PostGIS and enterprise geodatabases, publish clean GeoJSON/REST APIs, run GIS in the cloud and deliver spatial analysis your leadership can act on.

02Open-source stack

PostGIS at the centre, open standards around it

This practice is open source by default: PostgreSQL/PostGIS is the system of record, pgRouting adds networks, GeoServer or QGIS Server publish OGC and GeoJSON APIs, QGIS is the analyst's desktop, and MapLibre, OpenLayers, Leaflet, deck.gl and CesiumJS turn the results into maps. ArcGIS enterprise geodatabases sit alongside where you run them.

OGC APIs, GeoJSON, GeoPackage and PMTiles keep the data portable: ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, BI tools and custom apps all read the same PostGIS tables without exports.

Database

PostgreSQL

Roles and row-level security, logical replication, point-in-time recovery, partitioning — the operational foundation under every spatial table.

PostGIS

Geometry, geography, raster and topology types with GiST/BRIN indexes; vector tiles straight from SQL with ST_AsMVT.

pgRouting

Shortest path, drive-time isochrones, service areas and turn restrictions on your own road or utility network.

APIs and serving

GeoServer

OGC API Features, WFS, WMS and WMTS from PostGIS with GeoWebCache, security and a REST admin API — GeoServer 3 on Java 17.

QGIS Server

OGC services published straight from a QGIS project, so styling and layer logic are authored once by the analyst.

Analysis and visualisation

QGIS

Processing models, GRASS/SAGA algorithms, temporal controller and print atlases for reproducible analysis and reports.

deck.gl

GPU layers over MapLibre for millions of rows: hexbins, heatmaps, arcs and trips from PostGIS queries.

MapLibre GL JS

Vector-tile web maps from PostGIS or PMTiles with data-driven styling and no per-map-load pricing.

CesiumJS

3D visualisation of analysis results — terrain, extruded results and time-dynamic scenes in the browser.

03Why LiveBird

What you get that a generic vendor won't give you

01

Fast queries at scale

Indexing, partitioning and service caching designed for millions of features and thousands of concurrent users.

02

Open by default

OGC and GeoJSON APIs mean ArcGIS, QGIS, BI tools and your own apps all read the same data without exports.

03

Analysis you can rerun

Every study ships as a reproducible notebook or model, so next quarter's numbers take minutes, not weeks.

04FAQ

Common questions

PostGIS, GeoJSON APIs, cloud GIS and spatial analysis.

If your workflows are ArcGIS Pro editing with versioning and Utility Network, an enterprise geodatabase (which can itself run on PostgreSQL). If you need open access for many systems, plain PostGIS with OGC APIs. Often both, synchronised.
