02Open-source stack

The same services, without the licence

Every service above has an open-source route we build and support in production: PostgreSQL/PostGIS as the system of record, GeoServer or QGIS Server to publish it, MapLibre, OpenLayers, Leaflet or deck.gl in the browser, QGIS and QField on the desktop and in the field, and CesiumJS when the picture needs a third dimension.

When to choose it: licence cost across many seats or servers, air-gapped and portable deployments, data sovereignty, or avoiding per-map-load pricing. When you already run ArcGIS we keep both in sync rather than replacing it.

Browser rendering

MapLibre GL JS

Vector tiles, 3D terrain and a globe in the browser — the open successor to Mapbox GL, with MapLibre Native for iOS, Android and Qt.

OpenLayers

OGC-native web maps: WMS/WMTS/OGC API, GeoTIFF and GeoZarr sources, WebGL vector rendering and any projection.
